RBI Deputy Governor Rohit Jain Appointed by ACC
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Rohit Jain as the new Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). His tenure will be for three years and will come into effect from May 3 or later.
He will replace outgoing Deputy Governor T. Rabi Shankar, whose term has ended.
Rohit Jain’s Previous Role at RBI
Prior to this appointment, Rohit Jain has been serving as an Executive Director at the RBI since December 2020.
As Executive Director, he was responsible for the Supervision Department, which includes risk assessment, analytics, and vulnerability assessment.
Selection Process
Last month, the central government conducted interviews of four Executive Directors for the Deputy Governor position, out of which Rohit Jain’s name was finalized.
