Padma Viswanathan Shortlisted for International Booker Prize 2026
Indian-origin Canadian-American writer and translator Padma Viswanathan has been shortlisted for the International Booker Prize 2026.
She has been recognized for her English translation of the novel "On Earth As It Is Beneath", originally written by Brazilian author Ana Paula Maia.
Previously known as the Man Booker International Prize, this prestigious award is presented annually to a work of fiction that is originally written in a language other than English and later translated into English and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
The winner of the prize will receive a total award of £50,000, which will be equally shared between the author and the translator.
The winner will be announced on May 19, 2026, at a ceremony आयोजित at Tate Modern, London.
