INS Aridaman and INS Taragiri Inducted into the Indian Navy
INS Taragiri and INS Aridaman have been officially commissioned into the Indian Navy.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated the nuclear-powered submarine INS Aridaman and the stealth frigate INS Taragiri to the nation in Visakhapatnam.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan along with several senior military officials.
Both warships are part of the Indian Navy’s Project 17A advanced stealth frigate program.
INS Aridaman is capable of striking enemies while remaining hidden deep underwater, while INS Taragiri is designed for high-speed surface operations with advanced weapon systems.
The induction of INS Taragiri comes at a time when the strategic and maritime importance of India’s eastern coastline is rapidly increasing.
This is due to changing regional security dynamics and India’s growing role in the Indo-Pacific region.
