India Successfully Tests Suryaastra Long-Range Rocket System

India’s Suryaastra Rocket System Can Destroy Enemy Targets Up to 300 KM Away

Strengthening India’s defense manufacturing sector, Pune-based private company Nibe Limited successfully tested the “Suryaastra” long-range rocket system at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, on May 18 and 19.

During the trials, two advanced rockets developed for the Indian Army, with strike ranges of 150 kilometers and 300 kilometers, demonstrated exceptional targeting accuracy.

According to the company, the 150-kilometer-range rocket achieved a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of just 1.5 meters, while the 300-kilometer variant recorded an impressive CEP of 2 meters.

In the defense sector, CEP is considered one of the most important indicators of a missile or rocket system’s precision. It represents the radius within which 50 percent of the projectiles are expected to land around the intended target. Such low CEP values highlight the deadly accuracy of the Suryaastra system in long-range deep-strike operations.

Reports indicate that the tests were conducted under a procurement order from the Indian Army. The Suryaastra system has been designed to strike critical enemy targets from long distances while keeping the launch platform safely beyond enemy reach.

The “Suryaastra” has been developed as an Indian adaptation of Israel-based Elbit Systems’ Precision and Universal Launching System (PULS) technology. It was jointly developed through collaboration between Nibe Limited and the Israeli defense company.
